Charlton Door & Fanlight

THE BRIEF WAS TO REPLACE THE MODERN OBSCURE GLASS WITH LEADED WINDOWS.  IF POSSIBLE  TO MATCH

THE NEIGHBOURING PROPERTIES, AND KEEPING IN CHARACTER WITH THE PERIOD OF THE HOUSE, WHILE STILL

GIVING THE CLIENT INPUT INTO COLOUR,  TEXTURE  AND DESIGN OF THE PANELS.

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE ON THE LEFT THE HALLWAY WAS QUITE NARROW AND SHADED.  AFTER EXAMINING THE DOOR IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PREVIOUS BUILDER HAD OVERLAPPED THE ARCHITRAVE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR OVER THE GLASS NARROWING THE PANELS BY EIGHT CENTIMETRES ALL ROUND.

ALL THE EXISTING GLASS TOGETHER WITH ALL BEADING AND ARCHITRAVE WAS RIPPED OUT.  AS YOU CAN SEE RIPPING OUT THE ADDITIONAL ARCHITRAVE HAS CREATED A LOT MORE LIGHT IN THE HALLWAY.
THE NEW PANELS WERE INSTALLED WITH NEW ARCHITRAVE ON THE OUTSIDE TO MATCH THE LOWER PANELS AND NEW BEADING WAS FITTED ON THE INSIDE.
THE NEW PANELS IN THE DOOR AND THE FANLIGHT ABOVE TRANSFORMED THE LOOK OF THE ENTRANCE.  IT TICKED ALL THE BOXES OF THE BRIEF AND THE CLIENT WAS VERY HAPPY.
